Apple Valley is served by Independent School District (ISD) #196 (Apple Valley-Eagan-Rosemount). A small portion of the City, in the northwestern corner, is in ISD #191 (Burnsville-Eagan-Savage).
- Known as the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District, District 196 serves 28,300 students in grades Early Childhood-12th and is Minnesota's fourth largest school district.
